The Snow

by Emma Bowen
1996

Snow is like cottonwool
So fresh and beautiful
Frozen on the pond
So slippy and slidey
Snow glistening in the sunlight
It is fun to play with
It is damp and wet
Snow is play-full fluffy and white
It is crunchy but soft and very cold
I like it when it's
Squishy and sparkly
Quiet and sharp

I am afraid

by Emma Bowen
1995

I am afraid of creaking doors
That open and shut
I am afraid of daddy
long legs in my bed
I am afraid of loud noises
in the dead of night
I am afraid of operations

Christmas lunch

by Emma Bowen
1995

Sitting at the table waiting for our lunch
I hope we have roast turkey
Christmas pudding and herbs
Mince pies and custard
Cherries to share
Sweets to fill tum
Look over there a basket of chocolate
for me
