Mrs B Why, hello Mr and Mrs Posh, so nice to see you again and this time with your lovely daughter, um (quietly to Mrs Clark) what's her name?
Mrs C Lisa.
Mrs B and Lisa - that's right - well would you like to come in?
Mrs P Why, thank you.
Mrs C Our two girls,
Emma and Georgina, would love to show you round, so I'll leave
you with them.
TG1 Lisa, this is your class room, with Mrs Clark as your teacher.
TG2 If you like you can go in now to look around.
Lisa OK, bye Mum, bye Dad.
Mrs P Bye, darling.
Mr P Have a nice day.
TG2 Would you like me to find someone to look after you?
Lisa Yes please.
TG2 OK, who want's to look after Lisa?
CH1 Oh, I can't be bothered.
CH2 Me too.
CH3 Yeah, what's the point.
CH4 Exactly!
CH5 Exactly!!
TP Oh, I will I always like to meet new people.
TG2 OK, (quietly to Lisa) good luck with her, you'll need it.
TG1 Now then Mr and Mrs Posh, would you like me
TG2 us
TG1 us to show you round?
Mr P Yes, that would be very nice.
Mrs P Do you think we could have a look in Lisa's class room first?
TG1 Yes, of course, let me show you in
(Children being silly.)
Mrs P Oh, what are these children doing?!
Mr P Yes, this is nothing like POSH SA LA TOSH, the school she used to go to!
TG2 Oh, they're just mucking around.
Mrs P Where is the teacher?
TG1 (Anxiously) Well they are, um (fast) having a very important meeting!
Mr P (Suspiciously) Right
TG1 Well, let's move
on.
Mrs C Hello class.
Class Good morning, Mrs Clark.
Mrs C Today we have a new girl called Lisa.
CH5 Oh not another one!
CH4 Can't she go in the other class?
Mrs C Yes, I think
that is all we need to know from you. Now go out to break and
all play with Lisa.
Mrs B Right, time for maths everyone. I'll put a sum on the board and I want you to work it out in your head.
(On the board is 1004+6007.)
Does anyone know the answer?
TP I know, I know!
Mrs B All right, what is it?
TP 7011 or seven thousand and eleven units.
Mrs B Yes, well done. Are you listening at the back?
PAB Yes.
Mrs B Right then, what did she say?
PAB Um, um
Mrs B See you weren't listening, and will someone sit next to Lisa?
TP I will, I will.
Mrs B OK.
(Ding)
Right, school over, everyone show Lisa what to do.
(Everyone leaves except Ethel, the teacher's pet, and Lisa feels very sad.)
TP Come on, this way.
Mrs C Sadly Lisa is ill today, so I thought we could make a Get Well card. All those in favour?
(Ethel is the only one to put her hand up.)
Well if Ethel wants to then we can.
(Break time.)
CH1 Let's play it.
CH2 OK.
CH3 Yeah, all right.
CH1 Now, who's going to be "it"?
(No one puts their hand up.)
CH4 Oh, Lisa would be "it" for us.
CH2 OK, let's play polo.
CH3 Who's going to be "up"?
(No one puts their hand up.)
CH5 Lisa would be "up" for us.
CH4 I really miss Lisa.
CH3 Me too.
CH2 Me too.
CH1 I suppose I do too.
CH5 Yeah, she's a good friend really.
CH3 Hey, Ethel, come over here.
TP Who, me?
CH1 Yeah, you.
TP You mean you want me?
CH2 Yes.
CH4 We want to ask you to be our friend.
CH5 And Lisa as well.
CH1 We want to all be equal.
CH3 Do you?
TP Of course, I can have fun as well you know!
(They all play together.)
(Lisa is back.)
All CH Lisa, you're
a great friend.
Alison Real school is - of course - not like this, but the end is quite realistic as we do try to make friends with people even if they have a bad reputation.
Kate This year as Upper II's has been great and we have all made new friends and had a great new experience.
Amy Now we are looking forward to a new year of friends, fun and everything else well, except exams! But nonetheless, it should be wonderful.
Georgina We would like to thank Mrs Clark and Mrs Bennett, and all other staff, for making our year a great one.
Note: Please inform me if you wish to use this play.
